The Cumberland Plateau Consortium
Implemented by Tennessee Technological University and White County Schools
Project Abstract
The Cumberland Plateau Consortium (CPC) is a Teaching American History project funded by the US Department of education. The centerpiece of the project design is a series of eight, one-week summer institutes over a three-year period. Each institute immerses teachers in the content and teaching of American history in correspondence with the historical eras outlined in the 2001 Tennessee state curriculum framework. Academic year activities include mini-institutes offered in the CPC region, and travel opportunities to attend and participate in national and statewide conferences sponsored by professional organizations. Dragonfly Enterprises provides the external evaluation for the CPC project.
