The Center of Excellence for Information Systems has a new division called The Institute for Understanding Biological Systems (IUBS). The Interim Director is Dr. Todd Gary. The mission of the Institute is to conduct research and provide educational programs to TSU students and the K-12 education community.

Judy Butler is the Director of Educational and Community Outreach for the Institute. Dr. Gary and Ms. Butler currently have many K-12 educational projects underway.
